Motorhome & caravan

The Rostock - Trelleborg ferry gets you and your motorhome from the A19 to the southern tip of Skåne in six hours, with no detour via Denmark. Both ferry companies carry motorhomes, caravans and trailers, but set different limits on width, gas and fuel. Know them beforehand, and you'll book the right category and avoid surprises at the terminal.

Measuring and booking correctly

Both ferry companies work with your vehicle's total length and total height, including bike rack, roof box and other attachments. So don't measure the vehicle from the spec sheet; measure what actually rolls onto the ramp. With Stena Line, a motorhome must be registered as a motorhome to fall into this category. A car with a roof box and a total height over 2 metres falls into the category "car up to 6 m long, over 2 m high".

TT-Line charges trailers and caravans by every metre started, including the tow bar. A minibus up to 6 metres is included in the normal vehicle price, and a car-and-trailer combination up to 17 metres total length travels at the passenger fare. Gas, fuel and appliances

With both ferry companies, the gas stays switched off for the whole crossing. Stena Line allows up to three gas bottles totalling 47 kilograms, with the valve closed for the entire journey. Report larger quantities by phone at least 24 hours beforehand; acetylene is never allowed. With TT-Line you close the gas main valve, and the gas container must be unlocked and accessible. Gas fridges aren't allowed there.

For reserve fuel the limits differ widely: Stena Line allows at most 5 litres, TT-Line up to 60 litres in reserve canisters. If you're travelling with Stena Line and have more, top up the tank beforehand.

At the terminal

In Rostock, the A19 leads straight to the terminals. With TT-Line you check in at the self-service kiosk, and check-in closes 30 minutes before departure; with Stena Line, 60 minutes before. Close the gas main valve while you're still waiting in line, so everything's done by the time you drive up. On board and afterwards

With TT-Line the vehicle deck is locked for the crossing. Take everything you'll need for six hours up with you, including medication and charging cables. TT-Line offers power for motorhomes and EV charging points only on the Green Ships Nils Holgersson and Peter Pan, not on the ships that mainly run this route.
