TT-Line

TT-Line has run between Rostock and Trelleborg since 9 January 1992. On the route it mainly uses the Tom Sawyer and the Huckleberry Finn, occasionally other ships from its fleet too. The ships

The Tom Sawyer and the Huckleberry Finn each have 134 cabins. The Tom Sawyer is built for around 400 passengers and has a cafeteria, a lounge, a shop, a casino and a sauna. The Huckleberry Finn carries just over 400 passengers and, alongside the cafeteria, lounge, shop and casino, also has a restaurant.

TT-Line's fleet also includes other ships, among them the Green Ships Nils Holgersson and Peter Pan, each with 239 cabins, and the Tinker Bell, which alongside Travemünde and Świnoujście also calls at Rostock and Trelleborg. Which ship covers your departure is shown in the timetable.

Departures

On a typical day, TT-Line leaves Rostock in the late morning, in the early afternoon and at night. From Trelleborg the ships leave in the late morning, in the afternoon and shortly before midnight. In summer the ferry company offers up to four departures a day from Rostock. Exact times shift with the day of the week and season.

TT-Line also sells Stena Line's departures. If your ticket shows the M/S Skåne or the M/S Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, you're travelling with Stena Line, and its rules apply on board and at check-in.

On board

For the crossing there are Pullman seats, inside and outside cabins, pet cabins and accessible cabins. There's no obligation to book a cabin from Rostock, not even at night; if you're only travelling for six hours, a Pullman seat gets you comfortably across the Baltic Sea. Wi-Fi is free in all public areas.

The vehicle deck is locked for the crossing. Take everything you'll need on board with you before leaving the car: medication, a jacket, charging cables and the dog's food.

Check-in in Rostock

Vehicles and bicycles check in at Rostock via self-service check-in kiosks; checking in online beforehand also works. Check-in opens around two hours before departure and closes 30 minutes before. For Stena Line's departures sold via TT-Line, and for groups, 60 minutes applies.

Foot passengers check in at the TT-Line terminal and travel to the ship by shuttle bus; with TT-Line you can only travel on foot on departures between 05:00 and 24:00. Cyclists wear a high-visibility vest in the port. The terminal has a bistro open from 05:00 to 22:00, a shop and toilets.

Check-in in Trelleborg

In Trelleborg, check-in for vehicles opens three hours before departure, or one hour before for departures between 23:30 and 06:00. It closes 30 minutes before departure for vehicles, and 45 minutes before for foot passengers and cyclists. The terminal is at Norra Nyhamnsgatan 1b. Foot passengers and cyclists check in at the main station, Kontinentplan 2, and take the shuttle 45 minutes before departure to the ship. There are no restaurants in the port itself; the town centre is opposite.

Dogs, vehicles and bicycles

Dogs are welcome in all public areas with TT-Line, on a short lead. Every restaurant has a dog zone, and there's a dog toilet on one outside deck. For the night, book a pet cabin, which holds up to two animals. Listed breeds wear a muzzle, and at most two animals travel per booking.

Motorhomes may be up to 2.55 metres wide and 4 metres high; when booking, give the total length including any attachments. The gas main valve stays closed for the whole crossing, and gas fridges aren't allowed. Bicycles are welcome, up to five per booking. Bikes on a car's rack don't need to be booked separately, and batteries aren't charged in the cabins. Motorbikes travel with a maximum of two per booking. The route without a car is described on the Foot passengers & bicycles page.
