Rostock - Trelleborg timetable
Choose your date and you'll see both ferry companies' departures in both directions, with ship, arrival time and duration. The table shows scheduled departures and is not a real-time disruption tracker. In stormy weather on the Baltic Sea or during shipyard periods, TT-Line and Stena Line can postpone or cancel individual departures, or use a different ship.
Two ferry companies, one timetable
On the Rostock - Trelleborg route, TT-Line and Stena Line run side by side, and the timetable above lists both in a single view. Together they add up to five to six departures a day in each direction, all year round. So you're choosing not just a time, but also a ferry company and ship, and with it how you spend the crossing: with your dog beside you in the restaurant on TT-Line, or with a sleeping berth and reclining seat on Stena Line.
On a typical day, departures from Rostock fall into three time slots: early morning, early afternoon and late evening. Stena Line leaves around half past seven in the morning, in the afternoon and late in the evening; TT-Line in the late morning, early afternoon and at night. The picture looks similar from Trelleborg. Exact times shift with the day of the week and season, so check the table above for your date.
Day ferry or night ferry
During the day the ferries take around six hours. The late-evening departures take more time, with Stena Line running 7.5 hours at night: leave Rostock around half past ten and you'll roll off in Trelleborg early in the morning. For the night crossing you book a cabin or, with Stena Line, a sleeping berth; with TT-Line you can also travel from Rostock at night in a Pullman seat, with no cabin required.
With the morning ferry you're in Sweden by the afternoon, with the rest of the day free to continue to Malmö, Gothenburg or the lake country of Småland. The afternoon ferry arrives in the evening, good for a first night in Skåne.
What to watch for in the timetable
The route runs daily, all year round. Which ship covers a given departure can still change: TT-Line mainly uses the Tom Sawyer and the Huckleberry Finn, but occasionally other ships from its fleet. The table names the ship for each departure.
TT-Line also sells Stena Line's departures. If your TT-Line ticket shows the M/S Skåne or the M/S Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Stena Line's check-in deadline of 60 minutes before departure applies, not TT-Line's 30 minutes. All deadlines in detail: Check-in.
For the opposite direction, switch to the return crossing; each direction has its own list of departures. If you have a vehicle in the summer holidays, space on board matters more than the time of day: book early if you depend on a particular departure.
